3.1 A good workout

I had slowly but steadily shown my mother that i was responsible and someone you could count on. She had decided that it was time to share the household's finances with me so i could build a garden for myself. It turned out pretty good as well. After having acquired various plants, i planted them in my new garden bed.

Meanwhile Skylar had grown into an adult and taken on a job as a Guru Tech. Unlike our Mother, she didn't seem interested in romance at all. All she cared about was her computer and work. I hoped she would change her mind some day. I really wanted to see her have a family of her own like Kala had.

Mom made sure to take care of Parker when Kala and Elaina were at work. She fed, burped and played with him as often as he would let her.

Elaina would sometimes invite over her Mother and brother over for them to play with Peter and to have a chat about whatever.
"Isn't he just adorable?" Elaina said excitedly outside of the house as her guests were getting ready to leave.
"He definitely is," Leigh replied. "How old is he now?"
"He's turning six next Wednesday. I can't believe how fast time flies by. It seems like just yesterday we picked him up at the adoption agency." Her eyes gleamed with glee.
"Well we should really get home now. It's getting late and i have to make dinner," Leigh said.
"And I have homework to do," Steven said. He was a real over achiever.
When they had left Elaina went to check on Peter.
"You're such a cutie," she cooed at him. She truly loved him dearly. She couldn't believe it had already been four years since they had adopted him. "You're going to grow up so handsome and have all the joys  of life. I'm gonna make sure you will have love and support as long as i live."
She was so happy, so full of joy by being a mother.

Soon after Peters birthday it was Phoebe's birthday as well. She turned into an elder and was now ready to retire from her job. Now she wanted to focus on painting and playing her violin.
Every morning she would eat breakfast outside on the terrace as she felt it was more peaceful there.
She would be thinking and reflecting over her life. How so much had happened since she had met Robi. He truly had been the love of her life. She couldn't believe it had already been ten years since he died. She felt bad for all the troubles she had caused him with her anger problems. At least they had worked things out before he died. And now she was an elder, she was nearing the end of her life as well. She wanted to make sure she met her goal to become the greatest artist and violinist in town and now she had all the time in the world.
She was a grandmother. Well not exactly, since Kala was actually her niece, but still she thought of her as her daughter.
She sincerely hoped she would live to see the next heir being born, though she wasn't very optimistic about it. She new Kylie was very career oriented and spend a lot of time with her plants. She couldn't see when she would have time for family life any time soon. And Skylar didn't seem interested in romance at all. All she did was work and sit by the computer playing her stupid games. Phoebe thought that Skylar needed to grow up and meet someone that she could marry and have children with.

"You work too hard," Elaina said one afternoon. "Why do you like it so much?"
"I need to keep up with the team," Kala said, taking breaks between every word as she lifted weights.
"You need to spend more time with your son," Elaina complained. "He says he misses you."
Kala put down the weights and looked sadly at Elaina. "I'm sorry. I'll make sure to spend more time with him. But he's asleep now so i might as well finish my workout."
"I want to spend more time with you too. It's like all you care about is working out and your job. You're up late pumping weights and i go to sleep by myself every night. I miss you." She felt a tear tickle in her eye corner and she wiped it away. Kala stood up and hugged Elaina.
"I'm sorry honey, but you have to understand that this is very important to me. I need to get the next promotion and for that to happen i have to be in my best shape. Can't you understand that?"
"Can you understand that I need intimacy with my wife?" She said looking hard into Kala's eyes.
Kala started to feel bad. She never wanted to hurt her family. All she wanted was to make money so she could support her family and give them the best life as possible.
"I have to clear my head." She kissed Elaina and went outside the house.
On her jog she best thought of how she could make time for her family.
She never wanted to abandon her family like her mother had done. She decided that it was best to cut down on the workout and spend time with her son and wife, to show them that she indeed loved them a great deal and that she wanted to be with them. She also wanted more children. They had applied for it months ago, but still no word. They wanted a girl this time. They felt that it would complete their family to have one of each.
Kala had tried desperately to support her family and at the same time save up for their own house with Elaina's help.

Elaina worked at a restaurant as a Head Dishwasher. She was too trying desperately to get promotions so she could earn more money. Every day, to prepare for work the next day, she would cook various meals for the family. she wanted to be the best damn cook in the community and she worked really hard as well, reading all the latest recipes.

Kala was proud to be Punk. She loved the band Killswitch Engage. A couple years ago they had been touring all over from SimCity and Bridgeport to Appaloosa Plains and finally they had performed an amazing show in Willow Creek, where Kala had of course been to support her favorite band, screaming and jumping up and down to their music. Elaina couldn't stand their music. She didn't understand what Kala saw in them. It was just noise to her. She would rather listen to Katie Melua or James Blunt. That was nice and relaxing music that you could enjoy whenever you wanted.

"Peter is asleep and Phoebe is painting. She can take care of him if he wakes up." Elaina said, trying to convince Kala to come with her to the bar for a drink.
"I don't doubt that she could, but you know i don't drink. Or smoke," She send her a disapproving look. "What exactly am i supposed to be doing down there?"
"You can dance with me." Elaina suggested.
"No thanks. I'd rather stay home."
"Working out you mean."
"Well yeah. I actually haven't worked out the last couple of days, if you haven't noticed," she answered the unsaid complaint. "Why don't you just go and have some fun. Meet some new people. I'll be waiting for you at home." She kissed Elaina on the cheek and went to the gym room.
